Johnny Pool Johnny has 44 years working in bars on Fire Island. He started out as a pool boy and lifeguard when he first started on the island. Whenever someone would order a cocktail by the pool, Johnny would have to run out of the Ice Palace (formerly the Bat Cave Beach Hotel & Club),

down the side of the hotel and up to the Sea Shack located on the ocean next to Jump N' Jacks, and ask the bartender to make him a drink. By the time he got back, someone else was thirsty! Plus, he was responsible for all the people in the swimming pool too! So Johnny realized this isn't working and asked the owners of the Ice Palace to just get a few liquor bottles by the pool and make the drinks there...And that's where it all began to evolve.

Johnny was selling so many drinks that he was asked to become a manager and help run all the bars . One summer day in 1966, someone dropped off a blender and asked Johnny to hang on to it. The first blended drink, the "Peach Flip," was created shortly after. Every year, more blended drinks were invented, and over a period of years, Johnny had 36 blenders going at the same time! Those who remember Johnny Pool in those days know what an experience it was to order a blended drink from Pool.

Johnny currently works at Cherry's on the Bay, and mixes up all his traditional recipes. Try one of his classic frozen drinks, or his signature Bloody Mary made with all the secret spices that are sure to please your palette.
